In this USA Today article, John Elway, president of football operations for the Denver Broncos, discusses the challenges that he faced with a hand injury. Suffering from Dupuytren’s contracture, Elway had difficulty straightening his fingers on both hands. This prevented him from playing sports and performing mundane tasks regularly. As time went on, the issue got worse after he retired, and eventually, Elway was referred to a hand specialist. “I would just encourage everybody if they feel like this is something they feel like they have in their hand, to check with their hand specialist,” Elway said. “Get a treatment option for each individual person. We’re all different. It really can happen on every finger, too.
